MTSFB Strengthens Industry-Academia Collaboration at UTM Electrical Engineering Showcase 2026

The Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) participated in the Electrical Engineering Showcase 2026 (EES2026), organised by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening collaboration between industry and academia while supporting the development of future engineering talent.

Representing MTSFB, the Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Normarinee Mohd Nor, and the Senior Executive of Value Creation, Dr. Siti Hasunah Mohammad were appointed as Industry Panels for the Communication Engineering Track, where they evaluated students’ Integrated Design Projects (IDPs). The showcase provided an opportunity for industry experts to assess innovative student projects, share practical insights, and provide constructive feedback to help bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.

EES2026 serves as an important platform for students to demonstrate their technical capabilities, creativity, and problem-solving skills while engaging directly with industry professionals. Through this interaction, students gained valuable exposure to real-world industry requirements, helping to better prepare them for their future careers.

In conjunction with the event, the MTSFB delegation also visited the Wireless Communications Centre (WCC), UTM, where discussions were held on ongoing research activities, innovation initiatives, and potential areas for future collaboration. The engagement further strengthened the long-standing relationship between MTSFB and UTM in advancing communications and multimedia technologies.

UTM has been an Associate Member of MTSFB since 2005 and has made significant contributions to the development of MTSFB Technical Codes (TCs) through its active involvement as Drafting Committee members and Draft Leads. UTM has also collaborated with MTSFB on several Industry Promotion and Development Grant (IPDG) initiatives through its wholly owned company, Uni-Technologies Sdn. Bhd., including the successful development of the Strategic Communications and Multimedia Technology Roadmap 2025–2030 (MyTMAP2030).

MTSFB extends its sincere appreciation to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTM, for the invitation and warm hospitality. The organisation looks forward to continuing its collaboration with UTM in fostering innovation, supporting talent development, and advancing Malaysia’s communications and multimedia ecosystem through meaningful industry-academia partnerships.
