The Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) and the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) Korea officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral collaboration in ICT standardisation and emerging digital technologies.
The MoU Signing Ceremony was held at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with the 4th Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (APT PP26-4), which was attended by the TTA delegation during their visit to Malaysia.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Norazizan Mohamad, Director of MTSFB, representing the Chairman of MTSFB, and Dr. Daejung Kim, Vice President of TTA Korea, representing the President of TTA. The ceremony was witnessed by representatives from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), members of the MTSFB Board of Directors, the MTSFB Reference Panel, and the MTSFB Secretariat.
The collaboration establishes a framework for both organisations to strengthen cooperation in the development of ICT standards, exchange technical knowledge and expertise, and promote collaboration in emerging technology domains. Key areas of cooperation include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), Quantum Technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), next-generation networks, benchmarking, capacity building, and participation in international standards development activities.
Speaking during the ceremony, MTSFB highlighted that international collaboration has become increasingly important in supporting the development of globally aligned, interoperable, and future-ready standards as digital technologies continue to evolve rapidly. Through this partnership, both organisations aim to facilitate the exchange of standardisation roadmaps, technical expertise, best practices, and strategic insights to support innovation and the sustainable growth of the digital ecosystem.
Following the signing ceremony, both organisations conducted knowledge-sharing sessions, where TTA presented its standardisation roadmap and international initiatives, while MTSFB shared Malaysia’s standardisation priorities and ongoing Technical Code development initiatives. The sessions provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange perspectives and identify potential areas for future collaboration.
This MoU reflects the shared commitment of MTSFB and TTA to strengthen cooperation between Malaysia and Korea in ICT standardisation, while enhancing participation in regional and international standards development activities. Moving forward, both organisations will work closely to implement collaborative initiatives under the MoU, contributing to the advancement of digital technologies and a more connected, innovative, and resilient ICT ecosystem.
