UTeM launched the Fibre Optic Technology Competency Certification Preparatory Course in February 2025, with 124 students participating in the inaugural batch. The program features a lecture series, including a special guest lecture from industry experts, along with hands-on activities to enhance practical learning and industry readiness. Conducted once or twice a year, the course aims to equip final-year students with industry-relevant skills for a competitive workforce.
The course content was developed in collaboration with MTSFB, embedding technical code elements and incorporating industry insights from the Fixed Network Facilities (FNF) Working Group. The first industry lecture, delivered by Ts. Amir Subhi Wan Omar, Chair of MTSFB’s FNF Working Group, provided students with valuable exposure to real-world industry practices, effectively bridging the gap between academic learning and professional applications.
Following the session, MTSFB and FKEKK, UTeM, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Masrullizam bin Mat Ibrahim, engaged in a discussion to explore further collaboration opportunities, reinforcing their commitment to strengthening industry-academia partnerships.
Congratulations to UTeM on this impactful initiative, which marks a significant step in bridging academia and industry, ensuring students are well-prepared for the evolving workforce!
