RNF WG Meeting on New Technical Codes Development for 2025/2026

On 26 March 2025, the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) under Radiocommunication Network Facilities (RNF) Working Group hosted an online meeting to plan the development of Technical Codes for 2025 and 2026, focusing on aligning with new technologies and national priorities to support digital infrastructure and regulatory readiness.

The meeting also included progress updates on three Technical Codes currently under their first revision to reflect industry practices, technological changes, and stakeholder input. The Technical Codes under revision are:

  1. Radiocommunications Network Facilities – Smart Pole (First Revision)
  2. Radiocommunications Network Facilities – Street Furniture (First Revision)
  3. Radiocommunications Network Facilities – Minor Communication Infrastructure (First Revision)

Two new Technical Codes have been proposed for development in 2025/2026:

  1. Radiocommunication Network Facilities – Small Cell for Outdoor & Indoor
    This new Technical Code will provide comprehensive guidelines for the deployment and management of small cell infrastructure in both outdoor and indoor environments, supporting 5G and future network requirements.
  2. Radiocommunication Network Facilities – Safety and EMF Radiation for On-site Workers at Telecommunication Towers
    This Technical Code will focus on the safety requirements and electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure limits for personnel working at telecommunication towers, with the goal of enhancing occupational safety and compliance with health standards.

  1. To develop IoT-related technical reports, guidelines, recommendations and standards.
  2. To work on Smart Sustainable Cities and 4th Industrial Revolution Technical Documents that are specific to IoT.
  3. To advise regulatory, legal and governmental bodies on IoT.
  4. To be involved in the IoT conferences and standards meeting such as ITU SG 20.
