Public Engagement Session on Draft Technical Code for IoT Safety, Security and Privacy Management

The Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) successfully conducted a Public Engagement Session for the draft Technical Code MTSFB2511R0: Internet of Things (IoT) – Safety, Security and Privacy Management at Shaftsbury Asteria, iTech Tower, Cyberjaya.

The session brought together representatives from industry, academia, and government agencies to review the draft Technical Code and provide feedback on its technical requirements. The engagement served as an important platform for stakeholders to exchange views and contribute towards the development of a comprehensive Technical Code that promotes a secure, safe, and privacy-conscious IoT ecosystem in Malaysia.

The programme commenced with a briefing on the draft Technical Code by Prof. Dr. Shahrulniza Musa, Draft Lead, who presented the objectives, scope, key requirements, and the rationale behind the proposed Technical Code. The presentation provided participants with an overview of the draft and highlighted its role in addressing emerging IoT security, safety, and privacy challenges.

This was followed by an interactive panel session and question-and-answer discussion featuring:

  • Mr. Ng Kang Siong – Digital Connect Society
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shahrafidz Khalid – Universiti Kuala Lumpur
  • En. Azrul Izam Agus Azhar – Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd

 

The panel addressed participants’ queries, shared technical insights, and discussed practical considerations for implementing the proposed requirements, enabling valuable industry feedback to be incorporated into the draft Technical Code.

MTSFB extends its sincere appreciation to all speakers and participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions. Feedback received during the session will support the refinement of the draft Technical Code, ensuring it remains relevant, practical, and aligned with industry needs while contributing to a more secure and trusted IoT ecosystem in Malaysia.
