Why It Matters
The revised Technical Code provides a clear framework for industry stakeholders and municipal authorities to work together towards future-ready infrastructure. Key outcomes include:
- Clearer guidelines to ensure that telecommunication structures are safely and efficiently embedded within city street furniture.
- Support for 5G and IoT deployment, paving the way for smarter, more connected, and sustainable urban environments.
- Stronger collaboration between DBKL, regulators, telcos, and infrastructure providers to streamline approvals, resolve challenges, and accelerate deployment.

This initiative reflects the importance of aligning municipal planning with industry expertise to achieve Malaysia’s digital transformation goals. By embedding telecommunications infrastructure into street furniture, cities can optimise space usage, enhance aesthetics, and provide reliable connectivity to support both current and future technologies.
MTSFB remains committed to working closely with government agencies, regulators, and industry players to drive the development and adoption of technical standards that support the nation’s communications and multimedia ecosystem.
