MTSFB and BPA Forge Path for Space Collaboration

On September 17th, 2025, Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) through its Satellite Communications Task Force (SCTF), conducted an engagement visit to the Bahagian Penguasa Angkasa (BPA) at Kompleks C7, Pusat Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan, Putrajaya. The meeting aimed to explore potential collaboration opportunities in advancing Malaysia’s satellite communications ecosystem and fostering alignment with the Malaysian Space Board Act 2022 [Act 834].

Discussions included BPA’s participation in the SCTF Sub Group 5: Policy & Governance, involvement in the Satellite Communications Workshop (29–30 September 2025), and collaboration in developing relevant Technical Codes, industry events, and Tech Talks.

The engagement was well received, with BPA expressing strong interest in MTSFB’s initiatives. As the implementing agency of Act 834, Malaysia’s first dedicated space legislation, BPA emphasised its current focus on space debris mitigation and the development of space sustainability guidelines, aligning with global efforts to ensure responsible and sustainable space activities.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening Malaysia’s position in the satellite and space communication sector, enabling greater synergy between national regulatory frameworks, technical standardisation, and industry innovation.
