The Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) continues to strengthen industry–academia collaboration through knowledge-sharing initiatives, with an Expert Sharing Session conducted as part of the Fibre Optic Certification Course for Semester 1, Academic Year 2025/2026 at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).
The session was delivered by Ts Amir Subhi Wan Omar, Chairman of the Fixed Network Facilities Working Group, MTSFB, and General Manager, Core IP Development at TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd. A total of 30 students participated in the session, gaining valuable exposure to real-world telecommunications network deployment practices.
During the session, students were introduced to key aspects of telecommunications infrastructure, including:
- Introduction to Telecommunications Networks
- Access Network, covering both equipment and cabling components
- Methods of Civil Works
- Fibre Planning and Deployment
The session adopted an interactive approach, featuring two-way discussions and impromptu quizzes conducted during the presentation. These activities encouraged active participation, assessed students’ understanding, and enhanced overall engagement.
