Expert Sharing Session for Fiber Optic Certification Course at UTeM

The Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) continues to strengthen industry–academia collaboration through knowledge-sharing initiatives, with an Expert Sharing Session conducted as part of the Fibre Optic Certification Course for Semester 1, Academic Year 2025/2026 at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).

The session was delivered by Ts Amir Subhi Wan Omar, Chairman of the Fixed Network Facilities Working Group, MTSFB, and General Manager, Core IP Development at TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd. A total of 30 students participated in the session, gaining valuable exposure to real-world telecommunications network deployment practices.

During the session, students were introduced to key aspects of telecommunications infrastructure, including:

  • Introduction to Telecommunications Networks
  • Access Network, covering both equipment and cabling components
  • Methods of Civil Works
  • Fibre Planning and Deployment

 

The session adopted an interactive approach, featuring two-way discussions and impromptu quizzes conducted during the presentation. These activities encouraged active participation, assessed students’ understanding, and enhanced overall engagement.

MTSFB would like to express its sincere appreciation to UTeM for the invitation and collaboration. This engagement reflects MTSFB’s continued commitment to supporting industry–academia collaboration, capacity building, and the development of future talent through standards-driven knowledge sharing.

Internet of Things (loT) & Smart Sustainable Cities

  • Internet of Things Sub Working Group
  • Scope
  1. To develop IoT-related technical reports, guidelines, recommendations and standards.
  2. To work on Smart Sustainable Cities and 4th Industrial Revolution Technical Documents that are specific to IoT.
  3. To advise regulatory, legal and governmental bodies on IoT.
  4. To be involved in the IoT conferences and standards meeting such as ITU SG 20.
  5. To hold seminars on IoT standards and new emerging applications.
  6. To provide and create interoperability and conformance testing standards for IoT products.
