MTSFB Engagement with MPHLG Sarawak

On 10th January 2025, we were privileged to host 21 delegates from various ministries, local authorities, regulators and agencies of Sarawak, led by Ts. Haji Nasseruddin Abdul Jabar from the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government (MPHLG) Sarawak at CelcomDigi Tower, Petaling Jaya.

The session aimed to explore innovative solutions for network infrastructure, focusing on easier and faster deployment methods, including Fiber-to-the-Drain (FTTD). FTTD is viewed as a promising alternative to enhance coverage and support the Sarawak Digital Economy initiative. MTSFB is recognized as playing a key role in providing the necessary guidance and expertise, fostering collaboration to achieve Sarawak’s digital goals.

Our CEO, Pn. Normarinee Mohd Nor, provided an insightful overview of MTSFB’s vital role in advancing Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia industry. Ts. Amir Subhi Wan Omar, Chair of the Fixed Network Facilities (FNF) Working Group, followed with valuable insights into the landscape of Technical Codes (TCs) for FNF area. Additionally, Mr. Peter Macaulay from CelcomDigi Berhad shared the recent FTTD challenge as a cautionary example, shedding light on critical issues in network infrastructure development.

The session underscored the importance of developing new TCs, particularly for FTTD, to meet growing demands not only from the Sarawak Government but also from other states exploring similar solutions. A standardised framework incorporating best practices will ensure consistency and efficiency nationwide. Collaboration with Sarawak is crucial for mutual benefit in developing these standards and advancing network infrastructure solutions.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mohamed Awang Lah from MY.NeuTrans, along with the other FNF Experts and Sarawak delegates, for their valuable insights and participation.

Together, we are shaping a more connected and innovative Malaysia.
