World Radio Day 2025

📻 Happy World Radio Day! 🌍🎙️

Radio is beginning its second century of service as one of the most dependable and widely used forms of media, adapting to new technologies while continuing to inform and connect communities worldwide.

Since UNESCO’s proclamation in 2011 and UN recognition in 2012, 13th February has been a global celebration of radio’s impact. This year’s theme, “Radio and Climate Change,” highlights how radio plays a crucial role in:

🌱 Raising climate awareness and educating the public on sustainability.
📡 Providing life-saving information during climate-related disasters.
🎙️ Amplifying diverse voices advocating for environmental action.

In MTSFB, the Digital Radio Broadcasting (DRB) Sub Working Group (SWG) is studying the best digital radio platform given current frequency limitations. Last August, we hosted a TechTalk on Digital Radio, featuring experts from DRM, WorldDAB, and Indonesia’s hybrid approach using both DAB and DRM.

From local stations to global broadcasters, radio remains a powerful force for change. Let’s keep the airwaves alive for a greener, more resilient future! 🔊🌍

Internet of Things (loT) & Smart Sustainable Cities

  • Scope
  1. To develop IoT-related technical reports, guidelines, recommendations and standards.
  2. To work on Smart Sustainable Cities and 4th Industrial Revolution Technical Documents that are specific to IoT.
  3. To advise regulatory, legal and governmental bodies on IoT.
  4. To be involved in the IoT conferences and standards meeting such as ITU SG 20.
  5. To hold seminars on IoT standards and new emerging applications.
  6. To provide and create interoperability and conformance testing standards for IoT products.
